This handmade, hand-carved ceramic trinket dishes are a one of a kind piece of art for your kitchen table. Made with white clay, it showcases a colored underglaze and has a white footed bottom. To create the designs, the underglazed clay is carved away while still wet to reveal the white clay beneath - all by hand, freely and without stencils. This is a pottery technique called sgraffito. The bowls are curvy and bodacious and non conformist. They stand out on the table and make a very special gift.
*All of my work is handmade using slabs, pinching or coiling methods so you may see how my hands manipulated the clay with their perfect imperfections. They can be put in the microwave or the dishwasher, but as with any handmade item, they will last much longer with handwashing and gentle care. These pieces take hours to create, so show them some love.
Each piece varies in size. This bowl is approximately 4” wide and 1/2” tall.
