NEW 16 oz Hand Carved Mugs
NEW mug design for the avid morning caffeinator. These new designs hold 16 oz of your favorite beverage! They feature a slightly curved inward wall to trap the heat inside and a softly curved lip for maximum comfort. These are AWESOME mugs.
“Sgraffito” is an artistic technique in which a layer of color is added on top of the clay while it is still leather-hard. Then the top layer is carved away to show the clay underneath and to reveal the design. Once the piece has dried, it is fired in a kiln. A glossy glaze is added and it is fired a second time.
If you look closely, you can see where all the clay was carved away. It’s a long process. Each piece is carved by hand without patterns - these are all my own freeform drawings.
It is a unique, hand carved, one of a kind, piece of art.
*All of my work is handmade using slabs, pinching or coiling methods so you may see how my hands manipulated the clay with their perfect imperfections. They will last much longer with handwashing and gentle care.
